Marine Offshore Air Conditioners by Sedina-HVAC

Marine & Offshore Air Conditioners – Purpose and Benefits

Air conditioners on ships and offshore platforms are essential for maintaining safe and comfortable working and living conditions. They:

• Control temperature and humidity in cabins, control rooms, and technical spaces.

• Protect equipment such as electronics, switchboards, and servers from overheating and moisture.

• Ensure crew comfort and safety, particularly in extreme climates.

• Improve efficiency and reliability of operations on vessels and offshore installations.

• Control temperature at transformer platforms servicing offshore wind farms, protecting sensitive electrical equipment and ensuring continuous operation.

In marine and offshore environments, air conditioners must be compact, reliable, corrosion-resistant, and easy to maintain. Sedina-HVAC designs its horizontal and vertical self-contained units specifically to meet these challenges, combining performance with durability.

Horizontal Self-Contained Units (Ceiling/Wall Mounted)

Sedina-HVAC offers a complete range of horizontal self-contained marine and offshore air conditioners designed for demanding environments such as engine control rooms, switchboards, thruster rooms, server spaces, and other technical compartments.

Capacity range:

2.5 – 10.0 kW cooling
0.6 – 9.0 kW optional electric heating

Air flow:

350-1400 m³/h

Cooling media:

Fresh water (plate heat exchanger) or sea water (shell & tube)

Connections:

Cooling water inlet/outlet G1/2

Refrigerant:

R513A (XP-10) as standard — an HFO/HFC blend with one of the lowest GWPs (631) among non-flammable A1 refrigerants, combining high efficiency with significantly reduced environmental impact. Alternative refrigerants (R134a, R449A, R448A, R407C or others) available upon request.

Electrical supply:

3x400V / 50Hz or 3x440V / 60Hz. Different voltages available only on special request.

Compact design:

Plug-and-play units with hermetic compressor, EC fan, electronic controls, and painted steel casing with air inlet/outlet grilles.

Mounting:

Quick installation to ceiling or wall, only cooling water and main voltage connections required

Advantages of R513A (XP-10):

  • Low GWP = 631 (EN378:2016) → reduced greenhouse impact.
  • Safety class A1 (non-flammable).
  • High energy efficiency compared to legacy HFC refrigerants.

Vertical Stand-Alone Units

For larger cabins, accommodation areas, and technical spaces, Sedina-HVAC also supplies vertical self-contained marine and offshore air conditioners.

Compact footprint:

Ideal for installation in machinery rooms or accommodation zones with limited ceiling space.

Capacity range:

8 – 40 kW (at the customer’s request, it is possible to produce an self contained air conditioners with greater cooling capacity)

Cooling media:

Fresh water (plate heat exchanger) or sea water (shell & tube) cooled condensers available, ensuring compatibility with vessel or platform infrastructure.
